THE Six Gun Grill SWD Women’s team got their campaign for the new season off to a perfect start when they recorded comprehensive victories in both the Limited Over and Twenty20 format in the Cricket South Africa provincial women’s competition.
Playing at home at the Recreation Ground in Oudtshoorn the home side – thanks to a great bowling performance by Micaela Andrews (4/19; 9 overs), Jane Winster (3/9; 9.2 overs) and Julandi Saayman (3/28; 7 overs) – dismissed Border for only 101 runs.
Both Andrews and Winster are cricket stars born and bred in Oudtshoorn, and play for local club Union Stars’ women’s team.
Thanks to an unbeaten 37* from 39 balls; including two sixes and three fours by Andrews, SWD reached the winning target (102/2) in the 26th over for an 8-wicket victory.
